Ahlia University

Ahlia University Library has always believed in providing the best available resources to its students and faculty members. Contrary to traditional physical libraries, our University Library reaches out to all its patrons on their desktop in the University campus. Ahlia University has implemented a Digital Library to cater for the needs of its students and faculties.

The Library provides access to 2,500,000 e-journals and 11,000 e-books through subscription to tens of on-line databases from various publishers such as EBSCO, IEEE Computer Society Digital Library ,Brunel University, High wire Press, Al Manhal Academic Complete, OCLC ,VIRTUS INTERPRESS, Academic Journals, RESEARCH ARCHIVE , Digital Public Library of America, Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB), Eldis, Elsevier Open Access Journals, Google scholar, JSTOR (Journal Storage), Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD), Open Access Theses and Dissertations, SpringerOpen, SSRN (Social Science Research Network), Taylor & Francis Open Journals, UNESDOC Digital Library, Virginia Tech Electronic Library, Wiley Open Access, World Bank Publications and World Digital Library across disciplines taught at the University, For a full list of available databases please click here. which strives to keep both students and faculty in touch with current academic literature. At present the Library accommodates a collection of more than 13,000 conventional books including Smart books from McGraw-Hill & Pearson across the disciplines offered by Ahlia.

In addition, postgraduate students enrolled in the Brunel PhD without Residence programme, administered by Ahlia University enjoy access to the entire electronic holdings of Brunel University’s library encapsulated in a further 139 databases. The virtual library’s mission is to provide 24 hours/day 7 days/week access to patrons and strives to be the best virtual library in the Kingdom of Bahrain that uses this cutting edge technology to drive its knowledge acquisition process.

Communication & Mass Media Complete provides the most robust, quality research solution in areas related to communication and mass media.  Includes 1990 titles of Journal Publications.

Computers & Applied Sciences Complete covers the research and development spectrum of the computing and applied sciences disciplines. Includes 3200 titles of Journal Publications.

Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts (LISTA) indexes more than 560 core journals, more than 50 priority journals, and 125 selective journals, research reports and proceedings. Subject coverage includes librarianship, classification, cataloging, bibliometrics, online information retrieval, information management and more.

Business Source Complete is superior to the competition in full text coverage in all disciplines of business, including marketing, management, MIS, accounting, finance and economics. Includes 1300 titles of Journal Publications.

Topics covered include all levels of education from early childhood to higher education, and all educational specialties, such as multilingual education, health education, and testing. Includes 3300 titles of Journal Publications and 500 titles of e-books.

Humanities International Complete provides full text of hundreds of journals, books and other published sources includes all data from Humanities International Index. Includes 3500 titles of Journal Publications.

Offers information covering all aspects of human impact to the environment. Its collection of scholarly, government and general-interest titles includes content on global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more. This database provides comprehensive full text coverage for regional business publications. Regional Business News incorporates coverage of more than 80 regional business publications covering all metropolitan and rural areas within the United States. Includes 80 titles of Journal Publications.

ERIC, the Education Resource Information Center, provides access to education literature and resources. The database contains more than 1.3 million records and provides access to information from journals included in the Current Index of Journals in Education and Resources in Education Index. American Doctoral Dissertations is an open-access database built to assist researchers in locating both historic and contemporary dissertations and theses. Created with the generous support of the H. W. Wilson Foundation and the Congregational Library & Archives in Boston, it incorporates EBSCO’s previously released American Doctoral Dissertations, 1933-1955, and features additional dissertation metadata contributed by select American colleges and universities. Providing researchers with citations to graduate research across a broad span of time, from the early 20th century to the present, this database will continue to grow through regular updates and new partnerships with graduate degree-granting institutions. The subset of this database, American Doctoral Dissertations, 1933-1955, provides electronic access to the only comprehensive record of dissertations completed during that time period, the print index Doctoral Dissertations Accepted by American Universities. Containing twenty-two years of dissertation research and amounting to nearly 100,000 citations, this index was compiled annually for the National Research Council and The American Council of Learned Societies by the Association of Research Libraries.
