At Ahlia University, we are deeply devoted and committed to community engagement. Community engagement is encapsulated in our core values. It is also a core component and driver of the United National Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) which Ahlia University is fully committed to pursuing.
Since its foundation in 2001, Ahlia University has been genuinely committed to giving back to the society from which it originated and promoting values that we, as an organisation, deeply believe in:
- Creating an environment that supports equal opportunities for all members of society.
- Enabling the spill-over of the values we create at our university into society, resulting in tangible and measurable outcomes.
- Fostering awareness and a mindset of “sharing is giving” among all our members.
- Partnering with local communities and public bodies to pursue national priorities and goals of shared importance to Bahrain and its people.

Aims
We pay close attention to integrating the following principles into our activity framework as part of our Community Engagement Plan Aims:
- Social Responsibility: We prioritise social responsibility by actively serving our local and regional communities through various initiatives.
- Collaborative Research: We encourage participative, community-based research that supports social and economic development, working closely with community partners.
- Empowerment Through Education: We aim to equip learners with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed as entrepreneurs and community leaders, so they can reach their full potential.
- Access and Inclusion: We provide equal opportunities for all, including financial aid, scholarships, and support for students with special needs or from disadvantaged backgrounds.

At Ahlia University, fostering a culture of active community engagement is a fundamental aspect of our mission to contribute positively to the Bahraini community and the wider Gulf region. Our commitment to community engagement is reflected in our strategic goals and Our commitment to community engagement is articulated in our mission statement, with cascaded goals, from the strategic plan to the strategic objectives, up to and including operational plans.
Community Engagement Direction
Our direction for fostering community engagement activities in the period 2021-2025, builds upon the previous EMPOWER Plan (2016-2020) to strengthen our approach in addressing societal needs. Our approach aligns with the University’s vision and is designed to enhance our efforts in teaching and learning, research, and community engagement.

To ensure a systematic approach, and to facilitate effective planning, coordination, and implementation of all activities and projects, we established a Community Engagement Committee comprising various stakeholders.

The exhibition will feature around 15 local families who will be showcasing their unique products, including abayas, traditional dresses, spices, crafts, homemade pickles, Ramadan products, wooden items, and much more. Policy for Admitting and Supporting Students with Special Needs
Having identified the nature of his/her disability or special need, the student, after having been provisionally admitted to the University, will be interviewed by the Special Needs
Admission Committee, that includes a representative from:
- A faculty member who has some background in the medical field
- Admissions – Directorate of Admission and Registration.

The aim of the quality assurance manual is to act as a guide for all Ahlia University Academic and
Administrative members in all aspects of the operations of the University. The quality assurance manual
addresses the Internal Quality Assurance Management System (AUQMS) along with the frameworks that
are embedded to assure producing the highest quality standards in every operation. This QA manual has
been revised as a result reflection on cycles of implementation of policies and procedures and adaptions
