Ahlia University Students Promote Blood Donation Awareness Through Interactive Health Exhibition

Students from Ahlia University’s Physiotherapy and Nutrition and Dietetics programmes organised an interactive awareness exhibition to mark World Blood Donor Day, highlighting the importance of voluntary blood donation and encouraging greater community participation. The event, hosted by the College of Medical and Health Sciences, attracted strong public interest and was held in collaboration with Al Hilal Hospital, KIMSHEALTH and several healthcare organisations.
Throughout the exhibition, students engaged visitors through educational displays and interactive activities, providing information on blood donation eligibility, the donation process and its health and humanitarian benefits. They also highlighted the importance of maintaining an adequate blood supply to support patients requiring lifesaving transfusions.
Ahlia University Founding President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Professor Abdulla Al-Hawaj, said the initiative reflects the University’s commitment to preparing graduates who combine academic knowledge with a strong sense of social responsibility. He praised the students’ efforts in organising the exhibition and promoting public health awareness, noting that community engagement forms an integral part of the university’s educational mission.
Dean of the College of Medical and Health Sciences, Professor Mohammed Al-Essawi, said the exhibition demonstrates the college’s emphasis on linking classroom learning with practical community outreach. He added that students successfully applied their academic knowledge in communicating key public health messages while benefiting from collaboration with healthcare institutions, which strengthens their practical experience and prepares them for professional practice.
Dr. Enas Al Ballat said promoting evidence-based health awareness is a core objective of the college. She noted that blood donation not only helps save lives but can also provide health benefits for eligible donors. She commended the students for developing the exhibition’s educational content and interactive activities, as well as their ability to engage effectively with visitors from different segments of the community.
University officials said initiatives such as the exhibition provide students with valuable opportunities to apply their knowledge in real-world settings while supporting national efforts to promote public health and encourage regular voluntary blood donation.
