Ahlia University Ranks 10th Globally in Quality Education

Times Higher Education Rankings Recognize Ahlia University as Bahrain’s Top University and 17th in the Arab Region

In a remarkable global achievement, Ahlia University has solidified its position among the world’s elite universities by earning a top spot in the 2024 Times Higher Education Arab Rankings. The university was ranked 1st locally, 17th regionally, and an impressive 10th globally for Quality Education, aligning with the fourth UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 4). This milestone underscores Ahlia University’s status as a leading academic institution making a tangible impact on education and society.

The Times Higher Education rankings highlighted Ahlia University’s success in meeting several SDGs, further enhancing Bahrain’s international reputation, particularly in the education sector. This recognition reflects the university’s deep commitment to delivering high-quality education and its active role in driving comprehensive development. The 2024 rankings evaluated 351 universities across 16 Arab countries, with assessments conducted by independent experts using rigorous and transparent criteria focused on universities’ contributions to the UN’s SDGs, including Quality Education, reducing inequalities, and decent work.

Professor Abdulla Al Hawaj, Founding President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, expressed pride in this milestone, emphasizing the university’s leadership in sustainable development and community service. He extended gratitude to the Bahraini government and the Higher Education Council, led by Minister of Education Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, for their unwavering support. Professor Al Hawaj stated, “Ahlia University is a model of academic excellence and innovation, and its success is a shared achievement for the entire Bahraini community.”

Professor Mansoor Alaali, University President, congratulated students, graduates, faculty, and partners on this global recognition. He noted that the Times rankings highlight the university’s dedication to advancing education, research, and quality, in alignment with the SDGs. He added that these rankings reflect not only academic performance but also the university’s broader societal and economic impact, proving that education can drive positive change.

Dr. Esraa AlDahaen, Executive Director of Strategy, Quality, and Sustainability, described the Times Higher Education Arab Rankings as a vital indicator of Arab universities’ success in achieving the SDGs. She emphasized that Ahlia University’s continued recognition as a transformative and sustainable institution reaffirms its role in creating positive and lasting change, not just in education but across all areas of sustainable development
