Ahlia University Makes History as Bahrain’s First Member of AACSB Advisory Council

Al-Hawaj: Boosting Research Efficiency is Key to a Knowledge-Based Economy

Ahlia University has become the first Bahraini institution to join the Middle East and North Africa Advisory Council of AACSB, a leading international accreditation body for business schools. The University’s Founding President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Professor Abdulla Al-Hawaj, led an academic delegation to the council meeting held in Dubai on January 16, 2025.

During the meeting, Professor Al-Hawaj emphasized the importance of partnerships that enhance the quality of business education, foster a knowledge-based economy, and advance research in the region. He expressed pride in Ahlia University’s selection for this prestigious role, describing it as a recognition of its commitment to academic and research excellence.

AACSB is renowned for its rigorous standards promoting innovation and impactful research in higher education. Ahlia University’s accreditation by AACSB underscores its dedication to global quality standards in teaching and learning.

The University’s strategic focus on securing major international accreditations aims to elevate its academic and research performance while strengthening its global reputation. Ahlia delegation, which included Professor Allam Hamdan, Dean of the College of Business and Finance, and Dr. Esra Al-Dhaen, Executive Director of Strategy, Quality, and Sustainability, highlighted the University’s leadership in shaping global higher education strategies.
