The Founding President of Ahlia University, Prof. Abdullah Al Hawaj, crowned the Ahlia University Football Team as the champions of the ‘Local Universities’ Futsal League’. The final match took place on 11 March 2017 at Umm Al Hassam Sports Hall. Nine teams played in the tournament, namely, Ahlia University, the Applied Science University, Gulf University, Kingdom University, the Arab Open University, the University College of Bahrain and the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF). The Arab Open University team finished second, behind the Ahlia University’s Team. Their shot stopper won ‘the Best Goalkeeper Award.’ On the other hand, Ahlia University’s Fawzi Jashwa and his teammate Ali Nasser won ‘the Best Player Award’, and ‘the Top Scorer Award’ respectively. Prof. Al Hawaj commended the performance of the team, underlining the high sporting spirit showcased during the matches.
