Research papers presented at Ahlia University’s 9th Equal Opportunities Conference have been indexed in the global Scopus database, marking a significant academic achievement that enhances the international visibility and impact of the conference’s research output. The conference, held under the patronage of the Speaker of the Council of Representatives, also received principal sponsorship from Zain Bahrain and the Bahrain Ship Repairing and Engineering Company (BASREC).
Ahlia University Founding President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Professor Abdulla Al-Hawaj, described the conference as an example of the growing integration between academic research and institutional policy-making. “The success of the ninth edition reflects the university’s continued commitment to producing research that serves society and promotes the principles of equality, fairness and sustainable development,” he said.
Dean of the College of Administrative and Financial Sciences, Professor Allam Hamdan, said the inclusion of all conference papers in Scopus demonstrates the quality of the research presented and ensures wider international dissemination and academic recognition. He also expressed the university’s appreciation to Zain Bahrain and BASREC for their support, describing their sponsorship as a strong example of corporate commitment to advancing research, innovation and community development.
Executive Director of Strategy, Quality and Sustainability, Dr. Esraa Al-Dhaen, said the conference brought together academics, industry experts and policymakers from around the world to discuss emerging challenges in higher education, the labour market and the digital economy. She said discussions focused on reducing inequalities in opportunities, promoting women’s empowerment across different sectors and supporting the objectives of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The programme also featured interactive workshops and practical sessions exploring ways to translate research findings into institutional policies and workplace practices, with particular emphasis on the role of technology and artificial intelligence in advancing equal opportunities and improving organisational performance.
Dr. Al-Dhaen added that the conference expanded its international partnerships this year, strengthening academic collaboration, enhancing the quality of research outputs and further establishing the event as a global platform for researchers and decision-makers.
