Academics: “Translation Has a Unique Role in Various Industries”

Ahlia University Celebrates the Launch of BA. of Arts in English Language and Translation Programme.

Ahlia University celebrated the launch of BA.  of Arts in English Language and Translation programme, where a number of English language and translation professors have confirmed that the programme receives a great interest from students, asserting that it covers many aspects including language, culture, literature and translation into both languages Arabic and English.

Prof. Abdulla Al-Hawaj, the Founding President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, emphasised the importance of raising awareness among the society regarding translation which has a promising future and an urgent need in the job market, whereas Prof. Mansoor Alaali, the University President, recommended the academics to have a continuous communication with translation houses, TV channels, Media, due to their crucial role in supporting the translation industry.

During the ceremony sessions, the objectives of the programme were outlined, which include producing graduates with in-depth knowledge of the English language and using English language effectively to communicate in the spoken and written modes in a variety of social and academic situations, in addition to demonstrate an understanding of English literature and culture, and conduct, at a specialized level, different types of translation and interpretation, including consecutive, simultaneous, sight interpreting for different purposes.

Dr. Hameed matter defined the aspects of translation that are covered in the BAETR, specifying that the programme offered with a selection of two tracks focusing on translation for Media, business, and legal purpose, and translation for scientific, technical, and medical purposes.
