Ahlia University has organised Research Day 2026, bringing together students and faculty members for a series of online workshops designed to enhance academic research skills and improve the effective use of digital learning resources. The event, held via Microsoft Teams, formed part of the University’s ongoing efforts to promote a culture of research and equip students with the practical skills needed to access, evaluate and utilise scholarly information throughout their academic studies. The programme was led by Library Director Manayer Naseeb and supported by the University’s library team.
Librarian Chona Marie Nemiaga conducted five interactive training sessions, introducing participants to the university’s electronic research resources, including EBSCO host, the IEEE Computer Society Digital Library and Al-Manhal Academic Complete. The workshops focused on practical research techniques, including advanced database searches, locating peer-reviewed journals, accessing full-text academic publications and refining search strategies for coursework and graduation projects.
Students and academic staff participated in the sessions, which encouraged discussion, questions and the exchange of ideas in an interactive online learning environment.
Faculty members welcomed the initiative, noting that developing sound research skills is essential to improving the quality of academic work and preparing students for independent research, particularly in their final-year projects.
Participants also highlighted the value of gaining hands-on experience with international academic databases and digital research tools, describing the workshops as a useful opportunity to strengthen their information literacy and research capabilities.
University officials said the event reflects the library’s continued role in supporting teaching, learning and research by expanding students’ access to reliable academic resources and promoting the effective use of digital information services.
Research Day forms part of Ahlia University’s wider commitment to academic excellence, innovation and research development, while helping students build the knowledge and skills required for success in higher education and their future careers.
