Ahlia University Hosts Ramadan “Ghabga” Bringing Students and Community Together

Ahlia University hosted its annual Ramadan “Ghabga” on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at the Diplomat Hall of the Radisson Blu Hotel Bahrain, under the patronage of Founding President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Professor Abdulla Al-Hawaj.

The event brought together more than 580 students, along with academic and administrative staff, guests, and a group of Bahraini artists who were honoured by the university in recognition of their contributions to the local arts scene and their collaboration with the institution.

In his address, Professor Al-Hawaj welcomed the students, describing them as part of the Ahlia family, and emphasised that academic and research achievements are the result of a strong partnership between students and the University administration. He encouraged students to continue supporting the university’s progress and building on its achievements.

He also announced that the University’s new campus building is expected to be structurally completed within three months, followed by a preparation phase to transform it into a smart campus aligned with modern standards and the environmental character of Salman City. He noted that the campus includes the planting of 5,000 trees and 600 palm trees, reflecting the University’s commitment to sustainability and creating a vibrant learning environment.

Al-Hawaj further highlighted that Ahlia University has been ranked among the top 12 Arab universities and placed within the advanced tier among 5,000 universities globally in the Times rankings, describing the achievement as the result of continued investment in the quality of education and research.

Professor Mansoor Alaali, President of Ahlia University, noted that the University distinguishes itself through its Q1-ranked scientific journal, in addition to having five researchers ranked among the world’s top scholars in citation impact, reflecting the strength and quality of its research output.

The event also featured a speech by student Omar Al-Qahtani, representative of the Saudi Students Club, who expressed pride in belonging to the university and praised its supportive environment that brings together students of different nationalities in a cohesive, family-like setting.

The evening included the screening of the film “Goodness Exists,” produced by Jamal Al-Seeb, showcasing the university’s Ramadan initiatives, as well as an introductory film about the new campus produced by Mohamed Al-Jallabi, highlighting the project’s vision and future development.

The “Ghabga” reflected Ahlia University’s commitment to fostering a strong sense of community while bringing together academic excellence, cultural engagement, and student life in a unified institutional environment.
