1. Learning Outcomes, Teaching, Learning and Assessment Methods |
A. Knowledge and Understanding |
After successful completion of the program a student will have the knowledge and understanding of:
A01. Demonstrate critical knowledge and understanding of physical and aesthetic design principles and values of spatial design and vocabulary in the field of architecture and design. |
A02. Use a range of approaches to identify and implement relevant solutions through research, critical analysis and the subsequent development of creative solutions within a professional, contextual and ethical framework. |
A03. Use specialist level skills to demonstrate creativity and understanding of the professional context and the practice of management in interior design. |
B. Subject-specific skills |
After successful completion of the program a student will be able to:
B01. Use a range of approaches to demonstrate insight, interpretation and creativity to demonstrate the skills associated with making integrated decisions across multiple systems and variables in the completion of a design project. |
B02. Use special skills to produce technical documentations in interior design projects which are compliant with relevant codes and regulations. |
B03. Use special skills to demonstrate an advanced level of practical understanding and technical competence – whether in traditional or digital drawing techniques, through employment of a full suite of design software (Photoshop, AutoCAD, Google Sketch up, 3D Max, and Revit).
|
C. Critical-Thinking Skills |
After successful completion of the program a student will be able to:
C01. Use a range of approaches to critically analyses client needs in relation to relevant designs and concepts. Evaluate and interpret information about materials to solve problems involved in holistic interior design projects. |
C02. Use a range of approaches to make design decisions within a complex interior design project while demonstrating broad integration and consideration of environmental stewardship, technical documentation, accessibility, site conditions, life safety, environmental systems, structural systems, and building envelope systems and assemblies. |
C03. Use a range of approaches to demonstrate insight, interpretation and creativity to generate innovative design ideas and concepts of interior spaces and products within various types of built environments. |
D. General and Transferable Skills (other skills relevant to employability and personal development) |
After successful completion of the program a student will be able to:
D01. Use special skills to communicate in a well-structured manner to convey complex ideas adapting the message to the requirements and level of the target audience (peers, clients, senior management and other architectural professionals) expressing design solutions. |
D02. Operate at a specialist level to lead multiple groups and projects with decision making responsibilities for determining and achieving group outcomes in construction projects with significant responsibility for the work product of others. |
D03. Operate at a specialist level in time management and planning skills to compile interior design documentation and reports according to industry standards and gain knowledge in terms of how to prepare technical documentation with respect to interior construction building materials and assemblies. Schedule work tasks according to a time-table encompassing a logical and coherent schedule of milestones. |
D04. Explain the ethical aspects and professional responsibility of a design solution reflecting on its impact multiple stakeholders (client/community/municipality) whose interests (social, environmental, economic) are impinged hypothetically in this simulated practice of interior design and architecture encapsulated in the project. |
