Dear students,
we are glad to announce the appointment of the following mentors for the academic year 2024-2025 during the initial phase of the AU mentorship program. The program will begin in the summer of 2023 and run through the first and second semesters of the following academic year, 2023–2024.
AU Mentorship Program
Ahlia mentorship programs are created to offer an ambitious platform that endeavor to offer a dynamic and lively learning atmosphere while being inclusive in involving all types of stakeholders of both genders.
The University takes pride in being able to give its students the opportunity to be paired with an experienced industry, academic or alumni mentor, through one of our four mentoring programs.
Mentorship Programmes Offered
1. Alumni Mentoring Programme:
Through this program you will engage with AU Alumni professionals who have a wealth of expertise across a wide range of fields and sectors, thus you will be able to develop professional connections and networking, gain an expert advice on where to apply and how, and hear a real-life example from someone who was previously in your shoes. Available to all undergraduate students.
2. Industry Mentoring Programme:
This program is available to all undergraduate students who will get the opportunity to learn from an industry figure who will reflect on ways of improving one’s different skills to ensure post-graduation professional growth.
3. Academic Mentoring Programme:
This program is available to all undergraduate students who will get the opportunity to learn from an industry figure who will reflect on ways of improving one’s different skills to ensure post-graduation professional growth.
4. Entrepreneur Mentoring Programme:
This program is available to all undergraduate students and would be a great opportunity for aspiring young Bahraini to learn from an established and successful entrepreneur.
Requirements
All AU currently registered students are eligible to register in any of the above mentorship schemes. You simply need to be aware of where you do fit, and which program will help you the most. I advise you to take me time to consider who in each plan will be of the most benefit to you in planning your future endeavors. The decision of where to register is yours to make.
Registertion / Cost
You need to provide your details including your name, ID, major, GPA, your selected scheme and what do you expect out of participating. Information about participating mentors will be available to you to select from.
This is an excellent opportunity being made available to you for FREE. All you need to do is to be serious in wanting to advance your career prospectus.
How Does It Work?
After registration, we will pair you with your chosen mentor. All schemes will run on a group basis, so you will also get the chance to meet with your peers who have alike goals and plans.
Within each program you will be expected to meet with your mentor three time at least. Extra sessions will be arranged based on the agreed need of both mentor and mentees. You need to commit to all the three sessions.
Location
The meeting sessions will take place on the university campus, details of places will be advertised upon the commencement of the sessions
Number of Sessions
You would be expected to meet your mentor one time each three months during the year. Any additional meetings will be arranged between you and the mentor according to the agreed need and agenda.
AU Alumni Mentoring Program:
HR Senior Manager at Y K Almoayyed & Sons. Mr. Faisal holds a Master’s of Business Administration Ahlia University. He is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of personnel and Development (MCIPD).
Mr. Faisal will be kindly delivering his sessions during the following dates and times:

Audit Director at KPMG Bahrain. Mr. Saeed holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Ahlia University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA). He holds nearly 12 years of experience in the area of Auditing and Advisory, both in KPMG Bahrain and USA.

Information Security Technical Committee Member at BBK. Mr. Alsaibai, an esteemed professional in the field of information security, currently serves as the Information Security Manager at BBK. He brings with him a wealth of expertise particularly in the area of career shift. Graduating with distinction from AU with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance, Mr. Alsaibai embarked on his professional journey with KPMG Bahrain, after which he transmitted to different roles in various organizations, such as BHN, NBB, and BBK, each contributing to his comprehensive understanding of information security practices across diverse industries.

AU Industry Mentoring Program:
Partner at Grant Thornton Bahrain. Mr. Yaser Abass holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Bahrain. He also holds the ACCA qualification, as well as the CIA and CIPA certifications. With over 15 years of experience, Mr. Abass is currently the main point of contact for the financial services and government sectors at Grant Thornton Bahrain, leading multiple large cross-border engagements within the GT network across the Middle East.

She holds over 16 years of experience in external and internal audit, investigations, compliance, and risk assessments, both in Bahrain and the United Kingdom (UK).

- Be available to attend all the meetings bearing in mind the mentor professional responsibilities and their limited timings. Your commitment is important!
- Go into each meeting knowing your individual needs and have your questions prepared.
- Capitalize the chance to join your mentor network when made available for you.
- Do ask your mentor if there is a chance for you to join them on a site visit, in a forum, at a conference, or in any other type of development activity they may be able to connect you with.
- MOST IMPORTANTLY, have an open heart to the mentor suggestions regarding your development goals, and be always prepared to listen, and act upon any offered advice or suggestion.
