Exchange Opportunities for International Students
About Mobility
Ahlia University’s mobility programme allows international undergraduate students to study for one or two semesters and transfer credits back to their home university upon successful course completion. Final diplomas are awarded by the home university. Credit transfer is subject to meeting all academic and institutional requirements.
If you are an international student seeking to complete a full bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD degree at Ahlia, please contact our Admissions Office.
For further details, see the Frequently Asked Questions section.
What Mobility Options We Offer to Foreign Students?
1. Exchange:
-
Exchange students are enrolled at partner universities – universities with a formal cooperation agreement with Ahlia University. These students receive their degree from their home university, including a transcript of records confirming their semester or a year spent at Ahlia.
A mobility agreement and learning agreement must be signed before the mobility begins. For guidance, refer to the list of partner universities and contact your university’s international office.
Fees: Exchange students do not pay any fees to Ahlia. They continue paying fees, if any, to their home institution.
Eligibility: Exchange students must have completed at least one full year of study before applying.
2. Individual Visits
-
Even students from universities without an official exchange agreement with Ahlia University may study with us for one or two semesters as individual visiting students. They are required to pay the semestral fee. Most other conditions remain the same: they must also meet eligibility requirements, obtain approval from their home university, and have a learning agreement approved by both institutions.
Fees: Visiting students are charged per credit hour:

3. Summer Schools and Short Term Stays

Ahlia University offers short-term academic experiences and winter schools designed for international students. These intensive programmes focus on specific topics, practical skills, and cultural immersion in GCC landscape. Activities typically include workshops, field visits, and hands-on learning tied to particular industries or themes.
Short-term programmes can be organised on demand all year round. Winter schools are held during Bahrain’s pleasant months, last 1 to 2 weeks, and combine lectures, group projects, workshops, and cultural events.
