Dr. Ahmed Fathy Mahmoud received his doctorate in Journalism (Media Management & Economics) from Cairo University, Egypt. In addition to having taught Media and Journalism since 2012, Dr. Mahmoud has taught courses in Artificial Intelligence for Media, Data Visualization, Cross-platform Journalism, and Media Management and has led media and digital literacy workshops in both academic and professional settings.
He co-founded and helped design the Media Innovation Master Program in Egyptian university to help students bridge traditional media expertise with cutting-edge AI tools. He developed a follow-up course, Artificial Intelligence for Media, which is a key component of the curriculum.
Working primarily with students, he also has developed and led professional digital media literacy and practical media training for faculty and staff and serves as a media consultant for businesses, parliamentary members, and institutions such as the Institut d’Égypte and the Federation of Egyptian Industries.
Additionally, Dr. Ahmed has published papers in different fields of media economics, cybersecurity, and AI in media, including in the Arab Journal of Media and Communication Research and Democracy Journal, and has authored several books. He serves as a member of the editorial boards of a number of international journals and conferences.
He has served his community by publishing research with leading think tanks like Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies, delivering numerous training courses in digital media literacy, developing and improving academic programs as Chair of the Curriculum Development Committee, being a consultant for media strategy, and chairing sessions and coordinating media committees for a number of major regional conferences.
Dr. Ahmed is a member of various academic and professional bodies through his extensive conference participation and research collaborations.
