Ahlia University’s Career Guidance Center recently hosted Internal Audit Day, a dynamic educational event that brought together students, academics, and professionals in the fields of auditing and governance. The event, held on campus, underscored the University’s ongoing commitment to integrating academic theory with real-world practice.
In his keynote speech, Professor Mansoor Alaali, President of Ahlia University, highlighted the significance of preparing students for careers in emerging and essential sectors. He stated that internal auditing has evolved into a strategic function that supports transparency, corporate governance, and risk mitigation.
Dr. Karima Al-Musali explained that the initiative is part of a two-year effort to connect students with professionals across various sectors, including risk management, auditing, and human resources, aiming to expose students to the practical dimensions of their fields, enriching the academic curriculum with experiential learning.
The event featured several notable sessions. Mr. Ali Sharif, President of Bahrain Internal Auditors Association, delivered an insightful talk on the growing importance of professional certifications in the audit sector. Meanwhile, Ms. Fatima Al-Jahromi engaged students in an interactive “Kahoot” session designed to clarify the differences between internal and external auditing, while also shedding light on the auditor’s role in enhancing organizational performance.
A highlight of the day was a collaborative case study exercise. Students were grouped into seven teams and tasked with analyzing a real-world audit scenario. Each group had ten minutes to present their findings and recommendations, simulating a professional audit review process.
Industry leaders from prominent organizations such as “Benefit”, “Kalam”, and “Moorings Accounting” shared perspectives on the future of auditing in the age of digital transformation and artificial intelligence.
The event concluded on a high note, with participants praising its practical relevance. Attendees described Internal Audit Day as a transformative experience that reflected Ahlia University’s forward-looking vision of higher education—one that prepares students not just to graduate, but to lead.
