Jasim Al-Ajmi is a Bahraini-UK qualified individual with a Ph.D. from the University of Exeter, with executive experience and skills in banking and financial institutions. He has an established track record of leadership with strong background in investment, corporate governance corporate and retail banking, marketing, planning, budgeting, general management, economic and financial analysis; management of higher education institutions, risk management and corporate governance. Demonstrated record of developing and implementing solutions to multidimensional, complex operational problems; established ability to identify and troubleshoot critical issues that impact productivity and cost; as well as project management and designing value-chain related infrastructure components of projects.
Jasim was a member of the committee formed by HRH Shaikh Salman Bin Hamad Aal Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minster in 2002 to develop the first law of government procurement law. He was a member of the Steering Committee formed by the Minister of Industry and commerce that developed the first combined code of corporate governance. He also served as a board member of Eskan Bank.
He published numerus articles in reputable international journals in a number of areas in finance, including capital markets, corporate finance, conventional and Islamic financial institutions, and sustainable (ESG) finance.
Prior to joining Ahlia University as a professor of Finance in 2016, he served as a professor of Finance in University of Bahrain (UoB). Furthermore, Jasim also worked for Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait and ABC Bank prior to joining UoB.
