Professor Awwad is a former member of the University Council at his previous institution, Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie, in addition to having chaired several committees, including the Scientific Committee. He is recognized for his pioneering work in corporate governance, financial performance, FinTech adoption, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence (AI) applications in finance and sustainability. Over his career, he has authored and co-authored more than 70 peer-reviewed research papers and 14 refereed book chapters published by Springer Nature, Emerald Publishing, IGI Global, and other international publishers.

His scholarly work bridges finance, governance, and technology, emphasizing the role of AI and digital innovation in enhancing corporate transparency, sustainability, and institutional performance. Professor Awwad has also been featured as an Outstanding Reviewer Awardee in the Emerald Literati Awards (2022) and is a member of multiple editorial and scientific boards across globally indexed journals. He has served as session chair, keynote speaker, and organizing committee member in major international conferences held in Bahrain, Jordan, Turkey, and Europe.
