Biography

Ammar Al Hawaj holds a doctorate (PhD) in the area of Marketing and Innovation Management from Brunel University London, in the United Kingdom. He earned his MSc in International Business and Management from the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom, and a BSc in Banking and Finance from Ahlia University in Bahrain. Ammar is a marketing and communications professional, with particular expertise in the domain of transnational education (TNE) and collaborative provision. He is a Chartered Marketer and a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK). Moreover, he is a member of the Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation reviewers’ register.

Ammar has over 10 years of experience working in the higher education sector in various roles and capacities. In addition to having taught undergraduate courses since 2011, Ammar has delivered various workshops and seminars in both academic and professional settings. As a faculty member at Ahlia University, he contributed to the design and launch of several credit and non-credit based courses, most recently, a course entitled ‘Digital and Social Media Marketing’ and study tour under the name ‘Entrepreneurs Across Borders’.

Ammar played an instrumental role in establishing a full-fledged directorate (international relations) at Ahlia University, where he now holds the post of Executive Director. In his capacity as Executive Director for Communications and International Relations, he sits on both the Brunel University Joint Partnership Board, and The George Washington University Engineering Management and Systems Engineering Off-Campus Programs Board at Ahlia University.

Ammar actively contributed towards the achievement of successful review outcomes for numerous academic qualifications offered at Ahlia University, through the programme reviews conducted by the Bahrain Education and Training Quality Authority (BQA). He is experienced with both local and international accreditation systems, having worked on projects related to AACSB and other professional body accreditations such as the CIM. Additionally, he participated in many validation events which resulted in the alignment of various academic qualifications offered by Ahlia University through reviews and external scrutiny by the General Directorate of the National Qualifications Framework.
