Biography

Lameea al-Tahoo, a Bahraini national with blend of academic and  practical experiences in the areas of Strategic Planning, Organizational Behavior,  Health Policy and Health System Performance.

Hold a PhD. From the University of Wisconsin –Madison, USA in the area of Continues Professional Development (1995), and a Master degree in Medical Microbiology from the College of Medicine at the  American University of Beirut-Lebanon; Bachelor degree from the  Kuwait University in Medical Microbiology. Dr. Lameea also hold several post graduate diplomas in Teacher Training (Training of Trainers) from the College of Health Sciences- Bahrain, Health Care Management Diploma from the Royal College of Surgeon in Ireland, International Health Economics certificate from the Centre of International Health Economics at Your University-UK, and a certificate in Human Resources Management from the School of Public Health at Harvard University.

Dr. Lameea Joined Ahlia University in 2003 as a part time Assistant Professor in the Department of Management and Marketing-College of Business and Finance. In 2003 she joined the university on full time basis, as an Associate Dean for the same college.  In addition to administrative and teaching responsibilities she supervises graduate level students for MBA with  Ahlia and PhD with Brunel University-UK.

She chairs the Committee of Academic Staff Development, member of the University Strategic Planning Committee, member of the University and College Councils.

Before joining Ahlia University Dr. Lameea’s academic experience include teaching the subject of Medical Microbiology and Immunology at the College of Health Science in Bahrain, and held the position of the Head of Medical Technology program, which graduates,  medical laboratory technicians.  She progressed from instructor to lecturer, senior lecturer, and senior curriculum specialist at the Educational Development Center in the same college.

Between 1996 -1999, Dr. Lameea was a faculty member in the Executive Management Diploma program at the University of Bahrain, teaching Executive Self-Development and Organizational Behavior.

In 2000, Dr. Lameea joined the Ministry of Health in Bahrain as the Chief of the Office of Plans and Programs and transferred that office to the Directorate of Health Planning where she held the position of the Director from 2007 to 2012.  She has extensive experience in planning and policy making in Public Sector. The director position was a consultative advisory position involving health system performance assessment, strategy building as well as coordination various projects locally and with the World Health Organization (WHO).  In 2004 she was seconded at the prime minister court in Bahrain for six months as Chief of Strategy for monitoring and evaluation the implementation of public projects.

Dr. Lameea has a distinguished training and consulting experience at local and international levels with extensive experience in conducting highly effective workshops in strategic planning, management and critical thinking. She acted as local and international consultant and wrote several major national reports for the WHO, such as Health System Profile in Bahrain for 2006 and 2007, 2008 National Health Account, and Private Health Sector in Bahrain (2009).

During the period of 2001 to 2009 she served as Member of the Editorial Advisory Board and a referee for the International “Journal of Interprofessional Care-Promoting Collaboration in Education, Practice and Research in health World wide”.  Published by Taylor &Francis (ISBN 1356-1820).

Supervision

Supervised 7 PhD dissertations, among which 5 graduated, and many MBA students in several areas of management and Human resources management.
