The department of Telecommunication Engineering and professional development unit organized a workshop titled “Digital Signal Processing and Applications in Healthcare”, presented by the Biomedical Engineer Mr. Mohamed Hubail.
The Workshop aimed to present the Digital Signal Processing (DSP) due its advantages, which are represented in the physical and weight, less sensitive to noise, flexible and the programs can be easily modified, input and output signals can be easily stored and retrieved, processing can be done offline, reproducible accuracy and high speed, upgradable and software controlled, possibly of sharing DSP processor between several tasks, and costs are continuously going down.
As in the field of Healthcare, Mr. Hubail said that the DSP can predict the heart attack before it happened and can be used in computed tomography as well as in magnetic resonance imaging.
