Ahlia University has celebrated another milestone as one of its leading academics has received one of Egypt’s highest scientific honours. Prof. Mohammed Al-Essawy, Dean of the College of Medical and Health Sciences at Ahlia University, has been awarded the State Award for Scientific Excellence by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology under Egypt’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The award, regarded as one of the country’s most prestigious and competitive scientific accolades, is granted on the basis of strict evaluation standards. It evaluates not only academic research output, but also the tangible impact of research on the national economy, solutions to urgent social challenges, a strong record of publications in international journals, global patents, and successful leadership of major funded research projects.
Prof. Abdulla Al-Hawaj, Founding President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, hailed the award as a source of pride. “This recognition reflects the University’s vision, which puts empowering its faculty and researchers at the heart of its priorities, and invests in their potential to drive leadership and innovation,” he said. “The achievements of Prof. Al-Essawy raise the academic and research standing of Ahlia University on the global stage.”
Prof. Mansoor Alaali, President of Ahlia University, congratulated Prof. Al-Essawy, describing him as “an inspiring model of dedication and excellence”. He added: “This success is not surprising, but the natural result of Ahlia’s firm commitment to building a knowledge-based economy and supporting outstanding Egyptian scientific talent.”
Prof. Al-Essawy has been listed among the top 2% of scientists worldwide for five consecutive years. He previously received the First-Class Medal of Excellence from the President of Egypt and the State Encouragement Award, alongside several international awards from Arab and European institutions. His portfolio includes dozens of publications in leading global journals and multiple international patents.
