Ahlia University has strengthened its cybersecurity capabilities following the appointment of its Director of Information Technology to the ranks of internationally certified professionals. Mr. Hassan Al-Aswad, Director of IT and Cybersecurity, has been awarded two of the most prestigious global certifications in information security: The Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and the Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP).
Both certifications are issued by the International Information System Security Certification Consortium (ISC2), one of the world’s leading non-profit bodies in the field. They are recognised as among the highest professional credentials in cybersecurity worldwide, based on rigorous standards under the ISO/IEC 1702 specification.
Mr Al-Aswad’s achievement demonstrates advanced expertise in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise information security systems, with specialist knowledge in cloud protection, risk management, regulatory compliance, and digital identity.
Ahlia University President Prof. Mansoor Alaali praised the achievement, noting that it reflects the institution’s strategy of investing in human capital and building a professional and innovative work environment. “Enabling staff to obtain international certifications and professional qualifications is a backbone of our efforts to achieve further academic and administrative excellence,” he said.
Mr. Al-Aswad expressed gratitude to Prof. Abdulla Al-Hawaj, Founding President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Prof. Alaali for their continuous support. He stressed that the certifications will play a key role in enhancing the University’s cybersecurity framework and in advancing its secure digital transformation plans, in line with Bahrain’s Vision 2030 for a knowledge-based economy.
ISC2 is recognised globally as one of the most respected certification bodies for cybersecurity professionals, with its programmes serving as international benchmarks for assessing skills and expertise in the field.
