Ahlia School Student Wins Second Place in Arab Reading Challenge

Ahlia School has celebrated the outstanding achievement of its student Mohammed Jassim Mubarak, who secured second place across the Arab world in the ninth edition of the Arab Reading Challenge, one of the largest literacy initiatives in the region, with participation from over 32.5 million students representing 50 countries.

The announcement was made during the grand closing ceremony held at Dubai World Trade Centre, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Mohammed’s accomplishment was considered as a remarkable milestone for Bahrain, reflecting the Kingdom’s excellence in education and the school’s commitment to fostering reading, knowledge, and creativity among its students.

The event was attended by Mrs. Hala Farouk Al-Moayyed, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Academy for Educational Services and Research; Prof. Abdulla Al-Hawaj, Chairman of the School’s Board of Trustees; and Dr. Mohammed Ali Habib, the School’s General Director, along with academic and administrative staff, students, and several distinguished guests.

Mrs. Al-Moayyed confirmed that this wining was a source of pride for Bahrain and a reflection of the School’s efforts in nurturing a culture of reading. “Mohammed’s success is not just a personal achievement, but the fruit of an inspiring educational environment provided by the School and the dedication of our teachers who instill passion-based learning in every student,” she said. “We believe every student carries within them the seed of excellence.”

Prof. Al-Hawaj congratulated Education Minister Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma and the Ministry’s team for their continued support of both public and private schools, which enables them to achieve distinction. “It is a proud moment for Ahlia community,” he said. “Our student’s triumph among more than 32 million participants is a testament to perseverance and dedication. Every student can follow the same path of success with determination and hard work.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Habib emphasized that Ahlia School focuses on Arabic language and reading initiatives, describing the School’s participation in the Arab Reading Challenge as part of a broader educational strategy. “Our goal is to empower every student with strong language and communication skills,” he said. “We want them not only to win competitions, but to think critically, express themselves confidently, and contribute to their communities.”

The ceremony concluded with the honoring of Mohammed Jassim Mubarak. The occasion marked a proud moment for Ahlia School, reinforcing its mission to cultivate a generation of confident, creative, and passionate readers who carry Bahrain’s name high across the Arab world.
