Admission to Ahlia University is selective based on academic achievement regardless of race, colour, gender, religion, nationality or disability. The most qualified candidates will be selected to fill the available places.

Admission to Undergraduate Programmes
To be eligible for consideration for admission at the undergraduate level, an applicant normally should hold a recently issued recognized secondary school certificate or its equivalence. Candidates are selected from the most promising of the eligible applicants and up to the limits of available space determined by the University.Entry Requirements

  • Applicants must demonstrate a satisfactory level of English proficiency

Transfer Applicants
Undergraduate applicants transferring from other recognized institution of higher education are eligible for consideration for admission subject to meeting the following conditions:

  • Successful completion of one or more semesters in the institution they are transferring from.
  • Passing the English language proficiency requirements, if required.
  • Submission of official transcripts of the courses studied with the syllabi and descriptions.
  • The maximum number of credits that an undergraduate transfer applicant can be exempted from is 66% of the total number of credits required in their undergraduate degree at Ahlia University.

Undergraduate transfer applicants may be given transfer credits for courses required in their new programme:

  • If there is a matching course in their new programme at Ahlia University.
  • If they have obtained a ‘C’ grade or higher in the courses studied in the previous higher education institution.
  • If the course has a matching number of credits.
Programme Duration
The estimate duration to complete a Bachelor Degree in Ahlia University is 4 years, which is structured around 132 credit-hours covering 44 courses (154 credit-hours fin Bachelor Degree in Physiotherapy covering 48 courses).

The total tuition fees for the Bachelor’s Degree (without Bachelor Degree in Physiotherapy) at Ahlia University will be as follows:

Orientation Courses

The orientation programme is a one-semester programme offered to undergraduate students who intend to pursue their education in their respective colleges at Ahlia University. The programme aims to help students develop proper study habits and skills and to better prepare themselves for the initiation of their university study.
The programme consists of a core of two courses, English and Mathematics. Those who fail an orientation course are given one and only one chance to pass it in the following semester; otherwise, they will have to reapply for the coming academic year.
Applicants who graduated from high schools where English is the language of teaching and applicants transferring from other higher education institutions may be exempted from taking the orientation programme.

Placement Tests
The university administers placement tests in English language and Mathematics for new undergraduate applicants. Students who pass these tests are exempted from the orientation programme.

Teaching Hours

The duration of study for each course per semester is fifteen weeks, covering approximately 45 studying hours.
The undergraduate level courses run from 9am until 6pm Sunday to Thursday. The courses also run over the weekend period (Friday and Saturday).

Admission to Postgraduate Programmes (Master’s Degree)
Admission to the MSc and MBA programmes is contingent on the applicant demonstrating sufficient academic preparation at the undergraduate level to warrant a prediction of scholastic success at the postgraduate level.Entry Requirements
  • Applicant must hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree that is recognized and endorsed by the Higher Education Council in Bahrain.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a satisfactory level of English proficiency if English language was not the primary language of instruction in the undergraduate level
Application Requirements

Applicants may apply by submitting the following documents:

  • A completed Application Form
  • Four recent passport size photographs.
  • Photocopies of the applicant’s passport and CPR or ID card.
  • A certified and endorsed copy of the applicant’s secondary school certificate.
  • An official transcript of grades for the last three years of secondary school.
  • A certified and endorsed copy of the applicant Bachelor’s Degree.
  • An official transcript of grades for all years of the Bachelor Degree.
  • A non-refundable application fee of BD 40.
Transfer Applicants

Postgraduate candidates transferring from a recognized institution of higher education are eligible for consideration for admission subject to meeting the following conditions:

  • Successful completion of one or more semesters in the institution they are transferring from.
  • Submission of official transcripts of the courses studied with the syllabi and descriptions.
  • The maximum number of credits that a postgraduate transfer applicant can be exempted from is 50% of the total number of credits required in their postgraduate degree at Ahlia University.
  • The dissertation course cannot be transferred.

Postgraduate transfer applicants may be given transfer credits for courses required in their new programme:

  • If there is a matching course in their new programme at Ahlia University.
  • If they have obtained a ‘C’ grade or higher in the courses studied in the previous higher education institution.
  • If the course has a matching number of credits.
Programme Duration
The estimate duration to complete a Master’s Degree in Ahlia University is 2 years, which is structured around 36 credit-hours covering 8 courses and a dissertation.

Programme Tuition Fees
The cost of one credit–hour is BD 160; therefore one course costs BD 480 since it is consisted of 3 credit-hours.

The total tuition fees for the Master’s Degree at Ahlia University will be as follows:

Foundation Courses (if applicable) BD 960

Foundation Courses
Postgraduate applicants should normally possess a minimum undergraduate CGPA of 2.5 or its equivalent. Applicants with a GPA of less than 2.5 may be asked to take the foundation courses.
Postgraduate applicants who don’t show the mastery of the relevant subject and has not been conclusively demonstrated by the academic transcript, the applicants are may be required to take one or more of the foundation courses.

Teaching Hours
The duration of study for each course per semester is fifteen weeks, covering approximately 45 studying hours.
The postgraduate courses run either on weekdays evenings after 5:00pm or on Weekends (Friday & Saturday).

Admission to Doctoral Programmes
Ahlia University offers a PhD programme in collaboration with Brunel University London in the United Kingdom called “PhD (Without Residence)”. The 3-year programme is fully accredited by the UK government regulations and is recognized as equivalent to a degree provided on campus. All students applying to the Brunel Ph.D. programme (WR) administered by Ahlia University are normally required to hold a Master’s degree in a field closely related to their proposed doctoral research and must demonstrate a satisfactory level of English proficiency.

Doctoral research leading to the Brunel PhD after three years of full-time enrolment is currently available in two fields:

  • Information Systems, Computing and Mathematics
  • Business
Application Requirements
Students are admitted based on criteria set by Brunel University London. All application materials submitted to Ahlia University are forwarded to Brunel University London, which is the final arbiter of admissions decisions. Admission is on a yearly basis but is highly selective. Candidates are urged to submit applications to Ahlia University six months in advance (before 31st March) of the registration date (currently the registration date is 1st October) in the desired year of admission. ” PHD application form
