In January 2015, students and staff flew toMalaysia to spend just over a week in this beautiful country. After spending a couple of days in the capital Kuala Lumpur, the journey continued to the islands of Langkawi, situated of the north eastern coast of Malaysia. The islands are known for their outstanding natural beauty and lush tropical rainforest. The students really enjoyed their time on Langkawi, visiting the area, enjoying sports on the beach and travelling by cable car to the top of the mountains. Following the trip to Langkawi the students headed back to KL to take advantage of the great shopping and visits to some of the well known tourist sites including the Petronas Towers.

Bahrain Tour

In November, our French students enjoyed a tour of Bahrain. First stop on the tour was Bab Al Bahrain, the biggest souq in Bahrain. The historic souq is a maze of tiny shops where you can buy everything from diamonds to a t-shirt. Following a traditional arabic breakfast in the souq, the next stop on the tour included the historic Quboraala area and the local pottery factory in Al Ali. Next came the Bahrain Fort, a UNESCO world heritage site and stunning part of the history of Bahrain. The tour headed to Muharraq with a visit to Arad Fort, an ancient fort used for the naval protection of Bahrain and now the venue of concerts and a visit to the Dhow ship building harbour where the ancient and beautiful dhows are built and used for fishing. Every evening hundreds of dhows leave the harbour and head to waters in the Gulf, fishing for local hammour, shrimp and oysters. The tour finished in the Muharraq souk where the students enjoyed some great local food.
