The Mobile and Network Engineering undergraduate programme focuses on wireless mobile communications and network engineering and provides students with the knowledge and skills so important for a career in the rapidly changing mobile and networking industry.

Through this programme, students acquire an in-depth knowledge in wireless and mobile communications, data networks and network design, mobile device programming, modern digital and analogue communication systems, and multimedia service convergences ensuring graduates are fully prepared for employment within the sector.
As part of the degree programme, all students gain the Cisco Network Associate Certificate (CCNA) and may choose to acquire the Professional certificate (CCNP) through the two programme electives. This qualification trains students to build a functional configuration to support the specified network operational requirements.

The certificate track is divided into four dependent courses, the first two are compulsory inserted within the third year of the program (CCNA-1and CCNA-2); and the remaining two courses ( CNNP-1 and CCNP-2) are listed among the programme electives for students to choose from.

Teaching & Assessment

  • This programme aims to help students to gain knowledge, background , ability , and hands on practice in the area of Mobile and Network Engineering .
  • Students are provided with both theoretical and practical knowledge .
  • All practical sessions are taught in dedicated computer engineering and telecommunication engineering hardware laboratories while software-based practicals are taught in a computer lab equipped with modern programming and simulation software(Matlab/Simulink, Pspice, Java Eclipse, Cisco network Tracer)
  • Assessment is through written theoretical exams and in-lab practical exams. Individual or group projects form part of the assessment in the third and fourth year courses and are evaluated through written and /or oral presentations.
  • The first year and a large part of the second year are common to both engineering programmes, the third and fourth years are more programme-specific and include specialisation courses and the final project in addition to four elective courses including the two Cisco professional courses (CCNP-1 and CCNP-2).
  • The programme is a four year full time Bachelor degree with a total of 134 Credit Hours, these credits include a graduation project.
  • The medium of instruction is 100% English.
