Attention – College of Business & Finance Students

As the chairperson of the Banking and Finance department I would like to welcome you all back and hope you have enjoyed a wonderful summer and that you are ready and excited to start a new semester. As you all know the BSBF programme has undergone some substantial changes, to the study plan mainly, to take into consideration the changing requirements of the labor market reflected in the dynamic nature of the financial services industry in the kingdom of Bahrain. The changes in the banking and finance sector in the kingdom have prompted a need to adapt to the market needs. Thus, the department wishes to bring to your attention the following:

First:
The following course codes have been modified, but the course content remains unchanged:

Old course code                New course code

FINC 210                               FINC 211
BANK 220                             BANK 221
BANK 320                             BANK 311
FINC 310                               FINC 312
FINC 320                               FINC 322
FINC 321                               FINC 323
                                              FINC 430

Secondly:
Students who have already passed FINC 321 “risk management and insurance” in the old study plan must register for ECON 421.
Thirdly:
Students who have not taken FINC 321 must register for FINC 323 “insurance and reinsurance” according to the new study plan, who later can register for FINC 430 “risk management” and not ECON 421. Bear in mind that this new introduction, that includes a practical element, is to help BSBF students who wish to start enrolling in some of the professional designations in risk management, insurance and Islamic finance that our programme can give a basic introduction to.
For more clarification on the above, do not hesitate to contact me or your respective adviser.

Good luck and best wishes,
Dr Nassima Debab
Associate Professor/Chairperson
