About the degree programme
The BSc in Physiotherapy (BSPT) is a four-year full time professional degree enabling students to meet the requirements for a professional qualification in line with international standards.
It is designed to enable graduates to obtain entry-level professional physiotherapist positions and to sit for the Bahrain Physiotherapy Profession Licensure Exam offered by the Ministry of Health within Bahrain.
The degree programme provides a mix of academic theory and practical training, which includes prevention, assessment and treatment of cardiopulmonary, geriatrics, neurology, orthopedics, pediatrics, rheumatology and women’s health diseases and injuries.
Clinical work is based on academic course work to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for effective health care including competent prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with physical disorders and disabilities.
The programme enables graduates to gain employment, either independently or as part of a healthcare team. Employment for qualified physiotherapists is available in hospitals, outpatient clinics, private practice, rehabilitation centers, patient’s homes, schools, extended care facilities, sports venues, old peoples homes, industrial and commercial premises, nursing homes, psychiatric centres and educational institutions.
