Biography

Dr. Maria Saberi received her doctorate in 2013 from Brunel University London – UK. She is also a professional certified coach by the International Coaching Federation (PCC-ICF) – USA.

In addition to having taught courses in Leadership and Business Management since 2006, Dr. Maria has taught courses in Marketing and has led Emotional Intelligence, communications skills, and business education workshops in both academic and professional settings.

As a faculty member at Ahlia University, she chaired the department of Management Information Systems and then department of Management and Marketing between 2014 and 2020, where she helped enhance both the BSMIS and BSMM undergraduate programs.

Working primarily with students, she also has developed and led professional team building, decision making and communication skills workshops and short courses for faculty and staff and serves as a consultant for businesses and individuals.

Additionally, Dr. Maria has published papers in different fields of management, leadership, and business education.

She has served her community by delivering several training courses, supervising MBA dissertations of other universities, conducting pro bono career, academic, and leadership coaching programs and speaking in forums and chairing sessions in a number of Bahraini conferences.

Dr. Maria Saberi is a member of the International Society for Emotional Intelligence (ISEI), Brunel University Academy for PhD supervisors, Ahlia University steering committee for Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), Bahrain Society for Training & Development (BSTD), and Bahrain Society for Child Development (BSCD).

Interests

Emotional Labour training for multinational service organisations dealing with intercultural customer encounters using the empirically self-developed intercultural training model.

Supervision

I am currently supervising both BSc. and MBA senior Projects/Dissertations and since achieving my PhD in January 2013, I have supervised and graduated more than 10 MBA students in the areas of HRM and Organisational Behaviour. I am also a member in the Brunel-Ahlia PhD WtR committee since 2013, providing workshops and counselling to our PhD candidates. I am also currently a member of the Academy of Supervisors, being trained to achieve certification of PhD supervisor.
