Summary

Dr. Sohail Sadar has been working as an Assistant Professor in the College of Information Technology, Ahlia University, since 2016. Sohail Safdar acquired his PhD in Information Technology from the University Teknologi Petronas, Malaysia, in 2016. His PhD research topic was titled: “A Framework for Ad Hoc Data Migration and Password Authentication for Continuous System Availability “. He completed two Master’s degrees in Bahria University, Pakistan. One degree was in Software Engineering and the other degree was in Computer Science.

He possesses more than 12 years of academic experience including teaching, research and administration. He worked as a lecturer in University Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia from 2012 to 2016, where he was engaged in teaching, research and administrative tasks. Previously, he had worked as a research/graduate assistant in the University Teknologi Petronas, Malaysia from 2009 to 2012. He also worked for Bahria University, Pakistan from 2004 to 2009 as a lecturer. Additionally, he was assigned a special task as a program coordinator for the Computer Science and Engineering Department at Bahria University, Pakistan. During his working experience, he served in the domain of teaching by handling a variety of challenging courses. As a researcher, he regularly publishes significant amounts of researches in quality

journals and conferences. Moreover, he has an experience of leading and working on funded research projects. During his career, Dr. Sohail did various community services including managing an ad hoc department for earthquake relief works in Pakistan.

Research

Dr. Sohail does his research through passion and commitment. He has always been fascinated by software systems, as their effective modeling and development can lead to useful and powerful software systems. His interest draws him towards the software engineering domain and he has started working on business workflows since his master’s level studies. During his PhD journey, he focused on system availability through cyber threat situations so that business systems can continue to execute without interruptions as a result of cyber-attacks. Moreover, Dr. Sohail is interested in software process optimization, for which he had worked as co-researcher with one of his research group members on a software engineering funded research project, from 2015 to 2016. He has also worked as an active researcher in a research group i.e. Center of Information System and Software Technologies (CISST) at Unniversity Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia. Apart from research projects, he has published numerous research papers in highly reputable international journals and conferences. Currently, he is an active researcher at Ahlia University, Bahrain. At Ahlia University, he has conducted and attended various talks and seminars as part of his continuous efforts to remain aware of the modern methods in the field of information technology. As a researcher, he is always eager to share his ideas and willing to collaborate with his colleagues to achieve outstanding results.

Supervision

In Ahlia University, four students have already completed their group project titled “Developing Employee Appraisal System” under his supervision in 1st Semester 2016/2017 and one student has completed his project titled “Developing an Optimized Travel Planner” in 2nd Semester 2016/2017. Before Ahlia University, Dr. Sohail Safdar supervised various undergraduate and graduate projects. One of his undergraduate student achieved recognition at international level in APICTA 2014 for his project titled “Image based authentication for anti-shoulder surfing” in June 2014.
