Ahlia University

“Information Technology: a significant indicator of technological advancement”

The Dean of the College of Information Technology, Dr. Wasan Awad, stressed that information technology has recently become a significant indicator of technological development and advancement around the world. Bahrain’s progressive infrastructure acts as a stimulating tool that contributes towards achieving an economic competitive advantage in the region. As a result, Ahlia University is offering Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in information technology, all of which are accredited by the Quality Assurance Authority for Education and Training (QAAET) and have received ‘Full Confidence’.

Moreover, Dr. Wasan highlighted the college’s distinguished competencies in the field of modern information technology, noting the satisfaction of employers and technical institutions on the performance of Ahlia’s graduates in the Bahraini labor market. Thus this enhances confidence in the university and the local community, and demonstrates the success of the college’s programs that incorporate updated courses involving high levels of problem solving as well as practical training.

Dr. Wasan further explained that the field of information technology is currently facing rapid advancements. Therefore, in order to keep pace with and contribute to the implementation of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, which strives for first class higher education, the college of information technology aims to increase the level of its partnership with relevant private sector institutions.

Additionally, the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, offered by the college of information technology in cooperation with the Bahrain Institute of Technology (BIT), integrate professional courses such as Oracle and Microsoft which are highly demanded by the labor market. Consequently, Ahlia University graduates will be able to obtain international professional licenses to practice their profession, which will be positively reflected on the employment opportunities and the higher levels of income they receive compared to their peers who have academic qualifications not accredited by professional degrees.
