About the degree programme
The BSMIS programme prepares students to become IT managers who are able to address the informational challenges of the 21st century enterprise in the information age of the global economy. Students are imparted technical skills in an eclectic mix of business and IT coursework.
The programme focuses on providing students with the required knowledge and skills in the areas of business information and information technology that prepares students to pursue a career in business in general and business information systems in particular.
The programme provides the student with the necessary analytical skills to help make them competent employees in future organisations. The programmes core skills include system analysis and design, E-commerce, managing enterprise systems, knowledge management, data base management systems and computer systems. Additionally other soft skills are also obtainable in this programme including communication skills, presentation skills and teamwork skills.
The first two years will focus on the acquisition of fundamental knowledge in information technology, management information systems, management and finance. Students, during the last two years of the programme will be able to acquire in-depth knowledge in managing information systems and the required skills at an advanced level. Towards the final year , students have the opportunity to choose a subject for their graduation project which under careful supervision from faculty members the students are given the chance to apply the knowledge learnt in this programme before commencing their professional career.
